When patients’ teeth become damaged to the point that they need a dental extraction, one of the best treatments available is an implant.

Implants are a method of replacing either a single tooth or up to an entire arch of teeth.

Most implants will be placed by a specialist such as an oral surgeon or a periodontist. Once the implant has healed the dentist will restore the implant or implants by way of crowns, bridges or dentures.

Implants consist of three separate parts: the implant itself, the linkage or connector called and abutment and finally the prosthesis itself (crown, bridge or denture). Very accurate impressions will be taken by the dentist to accomplish the phase of restoring those implant(s) to achieve the best fit of the final prosthesis.

Just like teeth, implants require special care and attention. Follow up radiographs will be taken to assure the overall health of the implant, the abutment and prosthesis every cleaning appointment.
